So about a month ago when I got a new computer, I thought: "Wow, hey, this is great that I didn't have to buy a new monitor with it, 'cause that would have been expensive."
Yeah.
Instead of the "Wow, if my computer is dying now maybe my monitor could use replacing too, and I could bundle it and get a better deal on both."
Yeah, so, um, about a week ago-ish, my monitor made a noise like FZZTTTTcrackleclick and just dimmed out and finally blinked off. If I turned it off and on again it would work for about a second, which is the only way I was able to shut the damn thing down without having to freak out poor Lil Vader.
Aaanyway, my sortofnotmyuncle gave me his old monitor. Which, a few days ago, he asked to have back, so he could sell it with his old computer? I don't know. The whole thing was incredibly asshatty and I'm not even going to get into it now.
So, another thing I hadn't known before -- monitors are mostly widescreen now. Which means that when I play TS2 (ie: the only game I really play religiously on PC), I cannot take pictures without it automatically adding an extra chunk of image to the top and bottom of my shot. So I can't be entirely sure what I'm catching in the shot without some serious recalibration and I hatehateHATE messing with these things. Hate.
Odds are I'll have to order a new monitor from someone somewhere. I've been scouring the interwebz but so far nothing resembling what I had before or what I'm using now has come up. I may or may not be MIA for a while.
To the people watching me for new art bidnuss, I'm sorry, but that probably won't be happening any time soon. I haven't had the balls to go out and take pictures in this weather, and my scanner software does not work with Vista so I'm basically screwed trying to scan in drawings. That's how I draw, by the way. On paper first. Ugh.
Well anyway, I just wanted to update this. I think I had something to say about the new profiles but I can't remember it now. All I'm going to say is howdy @ my watchers. Oh! And I'm weirdly psyched for the Inkheart movie. And, don't quote me on this, but I think I may even brave the cold, cruel theater to go see it. I know. Epic, right? Okay. Well. HOWDY @ YOU GUYS.

Hinds are a sight no one should ever see. That's why they're behind us.
I don't want a laptop. D: They jiggle and depend on extra cables and things. Bleh. *hugs desktop*

Alas, I have to agree with you on the monitor front. I saw one similar to my old one (a bit bigger but the same model) on clearance a few weeks ago. I hope it's still there.
Though, I ask you, why was it on clearance at the regular sale price? That's just poor salesmanship, I mean, what's the point of it being "clearance" if it's not discounted? I demand discounts!
I suppose I should have replied in the note AFTER I read my comments.

I mean, WHO DOES THAT? Just leaves an un-discounted item on the "SALE" rack. It's not ON SALE. It's FOR SALE. Don't be stupid, salespeople. Make things cheaper! D:<

I keep mine wrapped in denim so as not to subject the WORLD to the sight of my hind. 0;
Desktops are better, but portability is nice yesyes. [:
What's that? Your desktop can't fit into a backpack? You say your desktop can't transform at the click of a button into a giant robot-killing waffle-making monster-mashing machine? Well my laptop can.

I think I speak on behalf of the WORLD when I say THANK YOU.
I agree! Portability is a lovely feature to have... but I never go anywhere. o_o So I don't need to bring things with me.
Wait... your computer makes you waffles?
